At House of Admin, I’m committed to doing more than just reducing my environmental footprint. I want to leave a positive impact on society, the economy and the planet and I am serious about sustainability and helping the UK move towards their target of ‘net zero’ by 2050.

Sustainability is an important factor in every decision I make, and because transparency is important, I am making this information public and outline below how I’m working towards a greener future; one responsible choice at a time.

Sustainable Small Business

In the Autumn of 2024, I took part in the live BT Sustainability programme, delivered by Small Business Britain in partnership with BT; a 6-week programme offering sustainability training for small businesses.

Here is my pledge to make a conscious effort to build an eco-friendly digital environment, by following good practices and encouraging others to do the same:

  • Using natural energy-efficient light sources.

  • Adopting energy-efficient technology such as power-saving settings.

  • Choosing cloud providers that prioritise renewable energy sources.

  • Optimising workflows to reduce energy consumption.

  • Regularly carrying out housekeeping to delete redundant files.

  • Working towards ditching single-use plastics.

  • Working with sustainable suppliers and clients who support this movement.

  • Minimising printing and reducing paper waste.

  • Recycle.

  • Pledging to continuously strive for ‘net-zero’ emissions by 2050 to improve my business’s environmental impact on the world.

  • Offsetting House of Admin’s remaining carbon footprint with an annual donation to fund high-quality native tree planting in the UK.

It is believed that climate change is being triggered by high levels of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere, which cause a greenhouse effect by trapping energy from the sun and warming the Earth’s surface and the air above it.

Today’s average global temperatures are 1 higher than in pre-industrial times, and this is causing things like erratic weather patterns, loss of polar ice, and rising sea levels.

To tackle climate change, the UK and other countries around the world have agreed that greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced by 45% by 2030 (compared with 2010 levels) and brought down to net zero by 2050. This means that, by then, we should not be putting more GHGs in the atmosphere (such as carbon dioxide and methane), than we are taking out of it. Net zero. By following good practices to reduce emissions and offsetting any remaining carbon footprint, my business is working towards becoming net zero in line with the UK’s 2050 target.

Join me in making greener choices in your everyday operations.
