10 ways to get more from your Squarespace website in 2026

O P I N I O N

If your personality is an introvert, then having a website and email list is a great way to showcase your business, without having to ‘perform’ in front of an audience or on camera. I’ve worked with interior designers, dog walkers, jewellery makers, flower growers, wellbeing therapists and coaches, and what they all have in common is that they want to show up for their business but in a way that feels more comfortable, and more them!

Hi, I’m Anita and I’m a Squarespace website designer and email marketing expert based in Somerset, and I help female-led small businesses book aligned clients without the pressuring of “being everywhere” or feeling like they need to be “on 24/7” because, quite frankly, that’s exhausting for us introverts! So, you’ll be pleased to know that a well-built Squarespace website can quietly do a lot of the heavy lifting for you when it’s designed properly.

Here’s where to focus your time and energy:

1. Choose a style that appeals to your target audience

If you’re starting from scratch, Squarespace offers the chance to begin with a blank page or to use one of their pre-designed templates. These templates are a great starting point and are designed to be clean and flexible, but not all of them will suit your business so find one that suits your brand style. If you’re a reflexologist, your site should feel calm and spacious. If you’re an interior designer, it should feel curated and visual. Don’t just pick what looks nice, pick what aligns with how you want people to feel.

2. Make your homepage do the talking

Your homepage isn’t a mood board, it’s a decision-maker. It’s true that first impressions matter because within seconds, your visitor will decide if they stay or leave. Without having to scroll they should be able to understand:
🔷 who you are
🔷 what you offer
🔷 who it’s for

If they have to scroll to figure it out, you’re losing them.

3. Use high-quality, real imagery

Stock photos dilute trust. Whether you’re a flower grower, beauty therapist, or holiday let owner, invest in professional photography that shows your real work, your space, and your presence. Squarespace is built to showcase visuals beautifully, so use that to your advantage and let your audience know what to expect.

4. Simplify your navigation

I completely agree that “less is more” when it comes to website design. Keep your menu clean and intentional. Think — Home, About, Services, Portfolio, Contact. Too many options overwhelm visitors, especially when they’re browsing on mobile (which many of your audience will be). Don’t make people work to find answers. Instead gently guide them to where they need to go.

5. Build service pages that actually sell

Each offer deserves its own page. Clearly explain:
🔷 what it is
🔷 who it’s for
🔷 what transformation or outcome they can expect

This isn’t about being pushy, it’s simply about being clear, because clarity builds trust in you and confidence in buying.

6. Use Squarespace’s built-in SEO tools properly

Squarespace gives you solid SEO foundations (this means ‘Search Engine Optimisation’ so that your business can be found in online searches e.g. Google) — but you still need to use them, so I recommend adding clear page titles, meta descriptions, and natural keywords like:
🔷“Somerset yoga retreats”
🔷“Mindset coaching for female founders”
🔷“Holistic therapy in rural Somerset”

You don’t need to overcomplicate it, just be intentional and specific.

7. Add booking or scheduling functionality

If you offer sessions, workshops, or consultations, remove the back-and-forth communication lag by allowing clients to book directly with you via your website. Squarespace Scheduling saves time, reduces friction, and makes your business feel established. You can also connect other booking systems such as Calendly, for example.

8. Tell your story on your About page

This is one of the most visited pages on your site so don’t waste the opportunity to share your journey, your values, and why you do what you do. Female-led businesses — especially in creative and wellbeing spaces, thrive on connection. Let people get to know the real person behind the brand and build trust faster.

9. Keep your site updated (without overthinking it!)

You don’t need to redesign your site every season, but you do need to keep it updated and alive. Update testimonials, swap out images, refresh your copy. An active website signals an active and professional business.

10. Make it easy to take the next step

Every page should guide your visitor somewhere — either to book a call, fill in a form, join your mailing list etc. Don’t assume they’ll figure it out. Clear CTAs (call to actions) on your pages will turn interest into enquiries.

Want help refining your website?
If your Squarespace site feels “fine” but not quite working, that’s usually a clarity issue, not a platform problem. The right tweaks can turn it into a quiet, consistent space attracting your ideal clients without you having to shout to be seen and loved online.
